No time like the present to sign up for MappingXpress

The numbers 400 and 401 have a new meaning for financial aid administrators, as new Student Aid Report (SAR) comment codes that may need resolution.

The new comment codes were explained in the October 12 Electronic Announcement. The comment codes let the student or parent know that the financial aid administrator may contact them to resolve any issues related to the data reported. This announcement follows the August 7 Electronic Announcement which discussed updates to the IRS Data Retrieval Tool.

Keep in mind that an easy way for your office to handle verification documents is through MappingXpress, which you can use for free if you are in a Sponsored state or at a low cost if your state is not currently sponsored in the Membership Program.

MappingXpress is a secure document transfer service that allows students to quickly and easily upload documents for retrieval by school professionals. Schools and other organizations using MappingXpress have reported the service has saved them time and money as they securely collect documents needed for financial aid verification, scholarship forms, loan applications, and other academic processes.

With MappingXpress, students are able to upload the documents electronically and provide an electronic signature. School financial aid office or business professionals can retrieve the documents securely from their Access Area on Mapping Your Future.

Mapping Your Future currently offers its MappingXpress service free to schools located in sponsored states. Member schools in non-Sponsored states may subscribe to MappingXpress for a low annual fee.
