The power of beginning |
||||||||||||||||
"Those who cannot begin do not finish." - Robert Henri, The Art Spirit Once you begin something, you've made a commitment. You've made a commitment to finish the project, to write the report, to complete the degree. For most of us, a commitment carries a lot of weight. While it is sometimes necessary to abandon that commitment, it comes with much soul searching and sometimes with a heavy heart. We know that by abandoning that commitment we will never know what might have been. If you are struggling to start something, try to answer why. Do you need more information? Do you feel unprepared? Do you need some uninterrupted time? Or are you afraid that the final project won't be perfect? Answer the why and find an answer to your hurdles - whether it's doing some additional research or closing your office door, turning off the phone, or accepting that it may not be perfect. Once you begin, the momentum - the power of starting - may just carry you through to the finish. | ||||||||||||||||
